Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-13TL;DR: The app runs on your machine and phones home to nobody. The website sets no cookies; the only analytics are a self-hosted, cookieless Umami counter that stores no personal data. No accounts, no ad tech, no interest in your data.

The xNAUT app
- No account, no sign-up. The app works fully without any registration.
- No telemetry. The app sends no usage data, crash reports, or analytics to us. We could not receive them if it did — we operate no backend.
- AI prompts go only where you point them. By default, AI features talk to models on your own machine (Ollama, LM Studio, AntBot on localhost). If you configure a cloud provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Perplexity), your prompts go directly from your machine to that provider under their privacy policy — never through us. API keys are stored locally on your device.
- Update checks. On startup, the app queries GitHub Releases to check for a newer version. GitHub sees this request (your IP address) under the GitHub Privacy Statement. No other network request leaves the app without your action.
- Work session logs, vault notes, tickets, themes and settings are stored as local files on your device. They never leave it unless you export or share them yourself.

- No cookies. No third-party trackers. No ad tech.
- Privacy-friendly analytics. We count visits with a self-hosted Umami instance running on our own infrastructure. It is cookieless, stores no personal data, and anonymizes visitors — we see aggregate page views and referrers, never you. Data stays on our server and is shared with no one.
- The site is static, hosted on GitHub Pages and served through Cloudflare. Like any web host, both may log basic technical data (such as your IP address) to operate and secure the service — see the GitHub Privacy Statement and the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. We do not receive or store these logs.
- Your browser fetches the latest release information (version number, download links, star count) directly from
api.github.com. GitHub sees that request under its own privacy policy.
Your rights
Under the Swiss FADP and the GDPR you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data. Our analytics store no personal data and the app collects none, so there is effectively nothing on our side to access, correct or delete — but you can always reach us at [email protected] with any question.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with an updated date. The site's public git history is the change log.
